I’d like to go to a church that’s not too preachy. AND ONE THAT DEFINITELY DOESN’T EXPECT MONEY FROM ME SINCE I DON’T HAVE MUCH! I’d like to attend a church that is more about living life in a Christian like manner and is about being a “good” person! However, it’d have to be somewhat liberal. I have been dating a guy for 8 years and we are sexually active and I see nothing wrong with that. It isn’t practical for us to get married as we are both not financially stable. It’d be great to find a church where I could socialize and hang out with good people. Are they all against drinking in moderation??? I have no friends except for my boyfriend. I am very depressed and I think the right church might help me get over my depression! I just don’t like it when they push Jesus down your throat all the time. I think being a Christian should be about being a good person, does that make sense? I was baptized Greek Orthodox but I don’t fit in at all with this branch of Christianity.

What about UU or Bahai?
No. There are absolutely no churches like that in existence. If there were, I think I would get along with more Christians. Hah.
Unitarian Universalists.
They are all a bit preachy, Howabout the Sallys army, they do good works and aren’t totally off their rockers? you get a nice costume too! you might have a problem with the drinking though.
Just stay the hell away from the christian churches, all they want in money. The christian church is the richest of all.
Why not just create your own religion, since you don’t want Christianity. You can’t really ask for a church that changes the Bible just to suit your lifestyle. The Bible doesn’t change for anybody, and the Bible says that sex outside of marriage is a sin, no getting around it. It sounds like you just want someone to excuse your sin, but Jesus said “Go and sin no more.” You can’t have Christianity and sin together. You may convince yourself that you’re ok, and that there is nothing wrong with your sexually active lifestyle, but God will still have to judge you, no matter how convincing you sound. He said it’s sin, and He said He’ll judge sin, period.
email jimbrown@graceandtruth.net and request free dvds. Right now we are studying the book of Daniel as it relates to Revelation, The last supper/Passover why it is not the communion most churches take monthly, and predestination or as I like to call it God’s will for our life.
Edit:
They don’t ask for money. They send you four dvds a month. The information you learn from them is more valuable than a hundred seminaries, and a hundred psychiatrists put together.
dont know
Dearest Jenna,
You are depressed because you are caught up in Apostasy things that are not of Christ they are lies that will only harm you
The Holy Spirit cannot ever bless you when you don’t have GOD’s truth
What did Jesus say? I am the way the TRUTH and the life no one comes to the father but by me.
You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free!
Spend some time alone in prayer ask God for guidance ask Jesus into your heart passionatley and sincerely read your Holy Bible
The Holy Spirit will guide you into truth out of your depression and living in sin.. I will pray for you…..
God Bless you as you seek GOD’s truth…
The church is not about what you can not do. It is about living a life for Christ and for that, He has promised that you will have life more abundantly.
But you have said that you want to find a church that will teach and command that you do whatever you want to do. What you want to do may not fit with what the next person wants to do. Which one of you, then, will be right?
God has given us a set of rules. If followed, these rules make your life safe, happy and productive. If you want to do whatever you want, then why go to church? Just do as you wish and reap the reward that gives you. But, if you want what God is offering, then it must be His way. It is so simple.
YOU ARE MARRIED AS YOU SLEPT WITH THAT MAN.THIS ACT OF SEX COMPLETES MARRIAGE IN GODS EYES.FOR ME I HAVE MANY WIVES EVERY WOMAN I’VE SLEPT WITH..IN FACT.NOW YOU WORSHIP GOD IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH.JESUS IS LORD OF ALL IN YOUR LIFE OR LORD NOT AT ALL IF YOUR EVER DISOBIEDIANT.THERE ARE RULES TO CHRISTIAN LIVING SOME OF THEM HURT NOTWITHSTANDING WE HAVE TO OBEY.AS TO WHICH CHURCH TO ATTEND YOU PRAY ABOUT THAT ONE AS IN THIS TIME MOST CHURCH ORGANIZATIONS ARE PHONY AND ON THE WRONG PATH.THERE ARE SOME CHURCHES THAT NEVER CONVICT SIN AND DON’T CARE WHAT YOU DO AS LONG AS YOU GIVE TEN PERCENT OF YOUR EARNINGS.YOU GIVE YOUR TITHES BY THE WAY TO A FOOD PANTRY SO TO POOR HAVE FOOD AND THINGS THATS WHAT GOD REQUIRES OF THE JEWS ITS THE SAME FOR US.A CHURCH THAT TAKES TITHES TO KEEP THEIR DOORS OPEN IS IN ERROR AND PROBABLY JUST PLAYING CHURCH DR DAVID BANNER
You know, the Bible isn’t against drinking in moderation – it is against overuse of Alcohol and drunkenness.
The Bible is against fornication, though.
Sounds to me like you are not interested in pleasing God, but yourself. Why then are you looking to go to a church? Maybe you should try looking for a social club.
Any church that does not preach the Bible, does not preach about Jesus, does not preach that fornication is wrong, is not one that would have God’s approval.
You likely feel the way you do about premarital sex because you don’t appreciate God’s standards and/or don’t have a deep love for him yet. Don’t shy away from the Bible because you are not living by Bible standards. Instead you should do the opposite. If you do then you would develop love for God and have the desire to please him and do what is right from your heart, motivated by love. (1John 5:3)
Try going to the nearest Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
They don’t pass around collection plates.
They don’t forbid the moderate use of Alcohol
They socialize a lot before and after meetings
They are open to the public.
If you like someone can even come to your home once weekly at a time you like and help you to learn more about God and what the Bible REALLY teaches – not the inaccuracies that the churches often teach.
You have nothing to lose by trying it.
.
Why do you even go to church if your not willing to listen?
The money deal is your option if you dont feel like it then dont.
But God woudl appreciate it. Christianity is a good start to find really helpful people and very social people.
I think you should get married if your going to get into it to a deep relationship. They not agianst drinking just dont brag about drinking.
Try to understand ask the person who is teaching so you know there not shoving it down your throat. And for the last one you ask for social people in christianity but you dont really
act like you want to be apart of a Christian prospective. Im just giving you my opinion. What do you think what will please God not by being perfect but by believing that he is your SAVIOR!
You think being a Christian should be about being a good person, but that isn’t what God says about it. We have to be saved through Jesus Christ (which is why you feel churches “push Him down your throat”. They want people to be saved.)
Did you ever think you might be depressed because you have no meaning in your life, and you are living in sin? You want the church to help you with your depression, but in your way, not theirs. AKA: God’s.
If you find a church that believes it’s ok to live in sin, and that doesn’t talk about Jesus, I’m thinking that wouldn’t be a church at all.
A lot of so called “good” people will end up in Hell, unless they confess their sins, and accept Jesus. Not my words, but the Bible/God.
2 Timothy 1:9
who has saved us and called us to a holy lifeānot because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,
Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Also, I’m not aware of other churches practices, but you have the option to give an offering, or not give an offering. That is between you and God.
I hope you will rethink some of your beliefs. Possible call several churches, and ask about their practices. Then, you could visit a different one each week until you find one you are comfortable with.
I would stay away from anything that preaches that sin is ok, though. it would Not be a church of God.
Your trying to find a church that fits in with your standards. One that will say it’s okay to have sex with yor boyfriend but that’s not going to happen. You want one that doesn’t push Jesus down your throat, but believe me, Jesus wouldn’t fit down your throat. He’s bigger, greater, and more powerful than anything you could imagine. You want a church that will fit in with the god you’ve made made up in your mind, and that’s called idolatry. You want someone to tell you that your good deeds will weigh out all the bad that you’ve done or are doing and that’s never going to happen at any church that stands for Jesus. Your trying to justify yourself by your own standards, but Gods standards are way beyond ours. The only way we can be justified and saved is by receiving God’s grace, repenting from our sins, and following Jesus’ commandments by living in faith and love. I do understand that some churches can be harsh, but there are some that can be very understanding about what you’re going through and they will encourage you and do what they can for you to help you get where want to be. I’ve made WHOLE LOT of mistakes in my life and the church that I found to be most open and receiving to me were the non-denominational churches. I’m not saying that they’re the only true church but they do not have all the religious crap. Church should be about Jesus and that’s it,. Not about man made traditions, rituals and ceremonies. It’s all about Jesus!
How about Jehovah’s Witnesses? There has never been a collection plate, or now I have seen buckets used, passed. There is never any charge for our ministry. Anyone is welcome to our meetings.
We come from all walks of life. Many with very colorful life stories. Gradually, as we all learn, we move our lives to match what pleases Jehovah’s line of thinking.
We do come to appreciate with that comes the need to do what God wants us to do. When you find something really rewarding, you want– need to tell others. This is a time a great personal joy in finding what the bible really says.
Your Greek Orthodox ancestors are probably weeping. They suffered so much persecution for Christ to preserve the Christian Faith, so much sweat and tears, and now their offspring has no understanding of this ancestral gift, nor the apprehension of how it should be valued and respected.
It is easy to lose this understanding in the modern world. Try visiting a monastery to see what your faith is truly about. I suggest St. Anthony of the Desert in Arizona, where Elder Ephraim is.
Perhaps the Unitarians or the Methodists would be a good place to start. There are several religions that are inclusive; however, they are not conveniently located to all individuals. You really need to research the denominations that are available in your area.
